Last Saturday, FreeChurch Toronto traveled to Waterloo to be welcomed into the Mennonite Brethren family as a Member Church. We are so thankful to have this opportunity to partner with like-minded followers of Jesus for the kingdom coming in our city and province.

We’ve had a great start to 2015: we’ve launched our new Community Groups, we have been welcomed into the MB family, we’ve have begun our storage moves at the Annex and at Kensington, and this Saturday we will be hosting our first Membership Series of the year.
The Membership Series is a time to hear directly from our two pastors, Cyril and Jon, who will speak on the history, vision, and values of FreeChurch Toronto. It is an opportunity to ask them questions to see if membership at FreeChurch is a good fit for you.
We will be meeting at our Kensington office on February 28 from 10AM-2PM. If you would like further information or are interested in attending, please e-mail us at the address listed below.
February 18, 2015 marks Ash Wednesday and the first day of Lent. For some of us, this will mean that we stop eating chocolate or candy or we give up Facebook or the Internet, but we at FreeChurch would like you to consider adding something to your daily routine during Lent.
We’re extending an invitation to everyone to undertake a reading and reflection focused on Jesus during Lent. We will be using a resource that takes you through the book of Matthew in 53 Days called Lent for Everyone.
Lent for Everyone is a devotional created and written by N.T. Wright. For each day of Lent, there is a reading chosen from the Gospel of Matthew, plus a reflection by Wright.
STEPS TO REFLECT:
Set aside approximately 10-15 minutes per day.
Download the FREE resource for your smart phone, tablet, or computer
Once you download the app, go to “Plans” – “Browse Plans” – “Topical” – “Lent and Easter” – “Lent for Everyone”
We believe that this is a great way to develop this habit of “learning Christ” and a way to extend our discipleship. We hope that you accept our invitation and join us for this period of reflection.
This week marks the first meetings for our Discipleship Groups, which are our smaller discussion groups that branch off our Community Groups. We will be studying “The 5 Habits of Highly Missional People” by Michael Frost.
Frost describes the book as a tool to “equip believers to see themselves as ‘sent ones’ and to foster a series of missional habits that shape our lives and values and propel us into the world confidently and filled with hope.”
